Vitamin CThe body is not able to make Vitamin C on its own, and it does not store Vitamin C. It is therefore important to include plenty of Vitamin C in your daily diet.
Vitamin C plays an important role in maintaining proper immune function and resistance to infection. Vitamin C is needed for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of the body. It helps the body make collagen. Collagen is a protein substance which all fibrous tissue integrity depends on. These fibers are found throughout the body, providing firm but flexible structure. Collagen is the “glue” that strengthens many parts of the body like the muscles and blood vessels. It is needed to develop and maintain healthy teeth, bones, gums, cartilage, vertebrae discs, joint linings, skin and blood vessels. Vitamin C is one of many antioxidants. Antioxidants are nutrients that block some of the damage caused by free radicals.
Vitamin C is used most often for preventing and treating the following symptoms.
Vitamin C is also used for – glaucoma, preventing cataracts, preventing gallbladder disease, dental cavities, constipation, boosting the immune system, heat stroke, hay fever, asthma, cystic fibrosis, infertility, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, autism, collagen disorders, arthritis, back pain and swelling, cancer and osteoporosis.
