World Mental Health Day (WMHD) falls this year on October 10th and is an initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH).  This is a day for global mental health awareness, education and advocacy that encourages help seeking behavior, reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and fostering connectivity throughout communities.

 

Here at O2B Healthy we wholly support WMHD and for every bottle of 5-HTP sold this month we will donate $1.00 to the NZ Mental Health Foundation.  According to the Mental Health Foundation one in six kiwi adults have been diagnosed with a common mental health disorder including depression, bipolar disorder and/or anxiety.  Mental health disorders, as a group, are the third leading cause of health loss for New Zealanders behind only cancers and vascular/blood disorders.  Within the group the main conditions are anxiety and depressive disorders, schizophrenia and alcohol use disorder (1).
