WILD YAM:
Wild Yam root (Dioscorea villosa) has been used since the 18th century to support female reproductive health as it aids a variety of women’s hormonal and fertility issues. As with all functional foods, Wild Yam root is nutrient dense but also contains an array of hormone-like compounds that help to reduce excess oestrogen levels that are associated with painful ovulation, cramping and chronic pelvic pain. Wild Yam root helps to tone the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes and urinary tract. Containing natural anti-inflammatory compounds Wild Yam root is often prescribed for endometriosis, ovarian cysts and post operatively for uterine fibroid removal. BLACK COHOSH:
Black Cohosh (Actaea racemose) is flowering plant native to eastern North America that is a member of the buttercup family. The root of Black Cohosh has long been prescribed by medicinal herbalists to alleviate symptoms PMS and peri-menopause and menopause. Known primarily as a ‘woman’s’ herb as it has powerful phyto-active compounds that a special affinity for the endometrium, ovaries and breasts. The biologically active constituent of the black cohosh root is to be terpene glycoside fraction, including actein and cimifugoside, alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins which act to regulate female hormone balance. Often prescribed after partial of full hysterectomy as an alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Black Cohosh has long been used to help with hot flashes, sweating, headaches, ringing in the ears, vaginal dryness, depression, low libido and helps to boost bone density.

FENUGREEK:
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) has been cultivated in the near and middle East since 4000BC and was used historically by ancient Greeks and Romans for a wide range of medicinal and culinary purposes. Fenugreek has powerful anti-inflammatory abilities and helps to soothe inflammation systemically. The biologically active components found in Fenugreek include steroidal sapinogens, beta-carotene, amino acids (histidine, lysine and arginine) flavonoids, folic acid, calcium, selenium, zinc, magnesium, B vitamins and high levels of iron. All these compounds helps reduce swelling, regulate hormone levels and promotes regular periods and redress anaemia. Traditionally prescribed to alleviate hot flashes and breast tenderness, regulate periods and normalize the transition from peri-menopause to menopause.

VITEX AGNUS-CASTUS:
Vitex Agnus-Castus also known as Chaste Berry is widely recognized and accepted in Europe as a treatment for female hormone imbalance such as seen with PMS, dysmenorrhea, tender breasts and endometriosis. It is used to normalize reproductive hormones and regulate hormonal cycles and alleviate peri-menopausal symptoms. Active constituents that are found in Vitex include iridoid glycosides, flavonoids and monoterpenoids that appear to act directly on the pituitary gland to help regulate and normalize the levels of oestrogen’s, progesterone and other key hormones in the menstrual cycle to promote regular ovulation, periods, boost fertility and ease the transition from peri-menopause to the menopause.
