Curcumin (Turmeric)

Turmeric has a vast history in Eastern medicine and cuisine, related to ginger it has a vibrant and brilliantly coloured root or rhizome. Modern scientific analysis shows the bio-active compounds found in turmeric are super potent antioxidants and anti-inflammatory molecules supporting cognitive health and joint health. Over 4000 published research papers confirm that curcumin acts on multiple targets and at multiple levels in the human body.

Olive Leaf

Epidemiological studies long ago on the Mediterranean diet showed that olive oil is a powerful supporter of the cardiovascular system and further studies highlighted that it is Oleuropein, a compound found in the unripe fruit and leaf of the olive tree that can take the credit. Olive leaf supports the immune system with potent anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties. Included in O2B Viro-go and O2B Lysine+ for powerful immune system support.

Andrographis paniculata

One of the most popular medicinal plants due to its many different properties. It is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that can cross the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) and so can support the central nervous system. Andrographis paniculata is an immunomodulator, meaning it can support the immune system when it needs to perform to fight infection but also when it needs to calm down if overstimulated.
Also called the ‘King of Bitters’ because of its extreme bitterness, andrographolides is used to support digestion, liver and healthy bile flow. Increasing evidence on the gut-brain-axis shows just how important maintaining a healthy gut is to the performance of our brain and central nervous system. Andrographis paniculata is such an all-rounder that it is perfect for our O2B Viro-go and O2B Cognivit formulations.

Echinacea

Classed as an immunomodulator, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and cell normalizer Echinacea has long been used to support the body when dealing with disorders of the immune system. It has the unique ability to support and regulate the immune system. Echinacea contains potent flavonoids, essential oils, caffeic acid derivatives and polysaccharides. These beautiful attributes all of support the production and function of white blood cells and their activity when the immune system needs them.

Vitamin C

No real need for an introduction! Vitamin C is also called ascorbate, a water-soluble essential nutrient that unlike most mammals, humans cannot synthesis so it must be obtained from our diets. A powerful antioxidant Ascorbate helps to protect fats/lipids from free radical damage. Vitamin C is crucial for supporting the activities of the immune system and required for healthy collagen, elastin, carnitine and catecholamine synthesis. We use more Vitamin C when we are stressed, drink alcohol or are unwell. Good dietary sources include fresh and raw plant foods like cherries, berries, guavas, red chili peppers, parsley, dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, mango, red cabbage, cauliflower, lemons, grapefruit, melons, peas and beans, but also oysters and liver meat contain good dietary sources. The current recommended daily allowance is too low at 60mg daily for adults, nutritionally minded health practitioners suggest that doses should range from 2,000-20,000 mg daily.

Elderberry

Elderberries are highly nutritious, rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B6, iron, potassium and fiber. Elderberry has been well studied for its support for flu indications in adults and children. The anthocyanins found within the berries demonstrate very strong free radical scavenging activity making it a potent antioxidant to support the protective mechanisms of cells against internal and external oxidative damage. Elderberry is most effective when started within two days of the onset of symptoms.

Garlic

Garlic contains volatile oil compounds, amino acids and enzymes that contain sulfur, including Allinase and Alliinin. Other bio-active compounds found in Garlic include high concentrations of selenium, calcium, iron, Vitamins B6 and Vitamin C. Garlic has powerful broad-spectrum anti-septic and antimicrobial activity, including anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal effects and is anthelmintic (kills parasites including round and hook worms). Garlic has long been regarded as one of the most versatile and effective herbs to support health and well-being. Hippocrates (c.460-370 B.C), the father of western medicine prescribed garlic for the prevention and treatment of many diseases and garlic is now well studied for its support of normal cholesterol levels, the cardiovascular system, normal blood pressure and normal blood-sugar levels.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential mineral that is important to enzyme and hormone activities. A potent antioxidant that is important for protein and DNA synthesis, Zinc is plays a vital role in the immune system, the growth and repair of skin and bone, digestive and bowel health, and hormone production. For men prostate tissue and seminal fluid require high concentrations of Zinc for healthy function. Regular alcohol consumption, infections and poor dietary levels can cause insufficiency and deficiency of Zinc. Good dietary sources of Zinc include oysters, kelp, nori, dulse, Brazil nuts, mussels, clams, walnuts, almonds, buckwheat, cod liver oil, lean lamb, butter, barley, garlic, ginger root and eggs.

BioPerine®

BioPerine® is patented extract obtained from black pepper (Piper nigrum) fruits providing enhanced bioavailability and absorption of other ingredients consumed with it when “in the right place at the right time” in the digestive tract.

BioPerine® is nutrient dense, containing biological active components like Piperdines and Capsaicin that have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. As Piper nigrum has mild analgesic properties it has long been used to support joint and muscle health. BioPerine® possesses a synergistic ability to support digestive secretions and processes which enhance the absorption of all other ingredients consumed with it.
