Chickweed (Stellaria media) is native to Europe and has long been used as a skin treatment, as it has a cooling and drying effect on insect bites, wounds, skin eruptions and burns. The medicinal properties of this common garden weed combined with its nutritional properties make it naturally essential to O2B O2B After-Bite. Containing high levels of Beta-Carotene, Vitamins B1, B2, B3, C and good levels of Omega 6 essential fatty acid GLA, and minerals calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium, iron and zinc there are few skin conditions chickweed cannot help including minor burns, lesions, acne, wounds, eczema, insect bites, nettle burns, psoriasis, and gout are all soothed by chickweed.

Native to Europe and parts of Asia Plantain (Plantago major) and is often thought of as a common weed. The leaves are edible and when applied topically have a soothing and calming effect to insect bites. Highly nutritious Plantain is high in calcium and vitamins A, C, and K. The biologically active phyto-chemicals are aucubin, allantoin and mucilage that affords this common plant antibacterial, skin renewal and soothing and pain reducing effects. With these powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects Plantain eases itchy, hot and swollen bites whilst helping prevent infection.

Lanolin is a traditional ingredient in skin therapy that has incredible moisturizing abilities. It is a very rich source of Vitamin D and other lipids, so much so, that its molecular structure most closely resembles that of human skin lipids. This means that it forms a breathable barrier, offering protection and absorption at the same time. With the ability to hold up to 400 times its weight in water, Lanolin is a fantastic moisture reservoir for dry, hot, sore and inflamed skin. Here in synergy with Beeswax to have an emulsifying effect to help seal in the healing properties of chickweed and plantain to offer nourishment and soothe the inflammation.

Beeswax is produced naturally by worker bees in bee hives and it is actually edible. The benefits to skin from beeswax is that it is moisturizing and the softening. It contains high levels of Vitamin A and provides long-term moisturizing, actually locking moisture into the skin. Besides offering your skin a natural moisture and glow, the anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory properties of bees wax can actually soothe easily irritated skin, making it one of the best skin care ingredients for those who suffer from allergies or other skin problems like rosacea or eczema. The anti-microbial properties of beeswax have been found to help heal cuts, abrasions, scrapes and wounds. Beeswax also acts as a layer of protection when applied to the skin, protecting the skin from environmental irritants and even the weather.
