Whey Protein Powder:

Whey is a natural protein source made from cow’s milk to provide an excellent source of the essential amino acids needed to fuel your body and maintain lean muscle mass. It is naturally low in fat, cholesterol and lactose, making it perfect for virtually anyone. Whey protein may provide health benefits to people of all ages due to the high amino acid content. An adequate supply of amino acids is essential to the growth and maintenance of all bodily tissues, including bone, muscle, skin, and nails. Whey also delivers a complete spectrum of whey peptides to assist your immune and antioxidant functions.

Brewer’s Yeast:

Brewer’s yeast has a high content of vitamins and minerals including Folic acid, B vitamins, Selenium, Magnesium, Potassium and Chromium. It is low in calories, fat, sodium and carbohydrates. Due to its nutrient density however, Brewer’s Yeast is useful in treating fatigue, anemia and managing blood sugar levels. Brewer’s Yeast has been found to be an excellent source of protein and can have up to 50% of its weight in protein. It has all the essential amino acids necessary for building proteins in the body and energy production.

Guarana fruit comes from a South American plant related to the maple. These berries have two times more caffeine than coffee beans and also contain fibre and tannins. Guarana increases mental acuity, attention span and can improve mood, memory and physical endurance. In South America it is taken as a part of weight management programme, as it helps to reduce appetite and is often prescribed to reduce muscle pain, headaches, inflammation and fatigue. Studies highlight that Guarana can increase physical stamina, endurance and support cardiac output.

Green Tea Extract:

Green Tea contains powerful antioxidants that have been shown to be more potent than Vitamins C and E. Rich in polyphenols, bioflavonoids, alkaloids, Vitamins A, D, E, C, B5, H, and K, and a good source of Manganese, Zinc, Chromium and Selenium. As it does contain caffeine Green Tea Extract can also be beneficial to mental acuity and alertness. A recent clinical study highlights that Green Tea Extract can help to boost metabolism, burn calories and promote fat oxidation. The polyphenols and polysaccharides found in Green Tea Extract are effective in lowering blood sugar, prevent inflammation and swelling, protect cartilage, lessen joint degeneration and also have anti-viral activity.

Carnitine plays a critical role in energy production at a cellular level, specifically it transports fatty acids into cells where it is burned as energy. Derived from amino acids, L-Carnitine is an antioxidant that is active in the body to increase the rate at which fats are burned. Carnitine also aids weight management by increasing the metabolic rate without compromising muscle tissue, and can help boost endurance and energy levels. Studies suggest that L-carnitine helps to support the health of cellular organelles called mitochondria r in their role in energy production, improve peripheral vascular disease, increase insulin sensitivity in diabetes, reduce diabetic neuropathy and may help reduce inflammation after exercise including the pain and soreness of muscles is lessened.

Slippery Elm Powder:

The inner bark of North American elm is very nutrient dense containing beta-sitosterol, campestral, tannins, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, zinc, beta-carotene and vitamins B1, B2, B3 and vitamin C. Slippery Elm bark is mucilaginous which is soothing and anti-inflammatory to all tissues it comes into contact with. People take slippery elm for coughs, sore throat, diarrhea, constipation, bladder and urinary tract infections, it also helps protect against stomach and duodenal ulcers and colitis.

As a sea vegetable, Kelp has been shown to contain 46 minerals, 16 amino acids (the building blocks of protein) and 11 different vitamins. A dense source of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C, D and E, as well as minerals including zinc, iodine, magnesium, iron, potassium, copper and calcium. In fact it contains the highest natural concentration of calcium of any food – 10 times more than milk. There are many reasons to supplement your diet with Kelp but key reasons include to achieve the iodine level necessary to support the thyroid gland: which regulates metabolism and energy production. Kelp will help to boost immune responses in the body, maintain normal blood pressure, calm the central nervous system and alkalize the body.

Magnesium is an essential mineral and as such is used by every cell in the body, it participates in over 300 enzyme based reactions in the body, from glucose conversion, to production of fatty acids and proteins. Approximately half the total Mg in the body is present intracellularly in soft tissue, and the other half is present in bone. With muscles containing nearly 30% of all Magnesium found in the body, Magnesium is vital for muscle relaxation and bone growth and repair. It helps smooth muscles to relax, relieving muscle tension, twitches and cramps, but also in regulating the output of the most important smooth muscle in the body, the heart.

Chromium has a strong insulin enhancing ability, it is thought to help bind insulin to its receptors in the cellular membrane and via this activity also help increase fat metabolism. Impaired glucose tolerance are associated with changes in fat profiles and increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Some studies have shown reductions in serum total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride levels with Chromium supplementation.

Add 250ml of water or milk per serve.  Mix in a blender or stir directly into a glass.

Average serving size 25g (approx. 1 scoop or 2 heaped tablespoons).
