Description

As we age, Collagen synthesis naturally declines, so supplementation with O2B Collagen+ will provide regenerative nutrients to support skin renewal, elasticity and cellular integrity. Collagen is a family of fibrous proteins that are needed for not just healthy skin, hair and nails but bones, teeth, cartilage, tendons and other connective tissues. Along with Marine Collagen O2B Collagen+ also supplies the body with Hyaluronic Acid, which acts as an internal moisturizer that also nourishes and rejuvenates skin. These two potent ingredients combined with the minerals Iron, Zinc, Selenium and the powerful antioxidants Vitamin E and Co-Q10 create the ultimate formulation for beauty from within.

Marine Collagen

Collagen is the main structural protein found in connective tissue including cartilage, tendons, ligaments, skin, bone teeth and more. Typically making up 25-35% of all the whole-body protein content, Collagen is required for connective tissue renewal, however synthesis declines naturally as we age. Supplementation provides regenerative nutrients as support for the natural repair and renewal process that increases cellular integrity, maintains resistance, elasticity and mobility of connective tissue and joints.

Horsetail extract

Horsetail has been used for centuries around the globe as a beautifying herb. Horsetail stalks bear a striking resemblance to human joints, and it is now known that they are high in silica, which helps preserve elasticity and connective tissue. Silica is also believed key to the optimal synthesis of collagen, a building block that is essential to the strength and elasticity of skin.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic Acid is scientifically termed as an anionic, non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) that is distributed widely throughout connective, epithelial and neural tissue. This gel-like water holding molecule found throughout the body is highly absorbable and acts as a space filler and cellular cushioning agent that is readily found in joints and nerves, hydrates the skin and fills the eye.

CoQ10

Co-Enzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like, antioxidant, fat soluble compound, also known as Ubiquinone as it is ‘ubiquitous’, found in every living cell of the human body especially the heart. It has an indispensable role in intracellular energy production of ATP, the body’s main energy molecule in aerobic respiration but levels decline rapidly as we get older or if taking a statin drug or hormonal contraceptive, therefore supplementation is recommended.
Co-Q10 is required for energy production, fatty acid utilisation, heart health, peripheral circulation, muscle activity, healthy gums and to support the body’s defences against oxidative stress caused by free radicals.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential mineral that is important to enzyme and hormone activities. A potent antioxidant that is important for protein and DNA synthesis, Zinc is plays a vital role in the immune system, the growth and repair of skin and bone, digestive and bowel health, and hormone production. Regular alcohol consumption, infections and poor dietary levels can cause insufficiency and deficiency of Zinc.

Iron

Iron is a vital essential element that has both metabolic and enzyme based functions in the body. Two thirds of all iron found in the body is involved in enzyme based reactions and a high percentage of that amount is found in the heme part of hemoglobin. As part of hemoglobin and myoglobin, iron is key to the transport and release of oxygen in tissue. Iron plays a key role in collagen synthesis, supporting normal immune function and cellular energy production.

Selenium

Many observational and animal studies have shown that low levels of Selenium compromises immune function and places individuals at risk of disease and health conditions. Deficiency symptoms include poor antioxidant activity and free radical damage, this is because Selenium along with Vitamin E are components of the bodies master antioxidant enzyme, Glutathione Peroxidase. As a potent antioxidant Selenium acts to recycle or reactivate other antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E and CoEnzyme Q10. Selenium has anti-viral properties, is essential to thyroid hormone regulation, and supports healthy mood and energy levels.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a general designation given to eight compounds in a family of vitamers, four of these are natural compounds called tocopherols and the other four are tocotrienols. These are fat-soluble and powerful antioxidants that protect lipids/fats from oxidation, supporting the digestion of fats, and are found throughout the body where there is a high level of exposure to oxygen, like lung tissue and neurons. Signs and symptoms of deficiency include muscle weakness, loss of co-ordination, loss of vibration and position senses, retinal dysfunction and poor transmission of nerve impulses and irregular reflexes. Good dietary sources include butter, wheatgerm oil, sunflower seeds and oil, almonds, sesame oil, peanut oil, peanuts and peanut butter, oatmeal, salmon, whole rye, eggs, carrots and peas. Recommended daily allowance for Vitamin E is 8-10IU for adults and therapeutic doses range from 100-1,200IU. Vitamin E is considered one of the safest vitamins, however caution should be extended when taken anticoagulant medication.
